Navarre is an unincorporated community in Santa Rosa County, west of our office across the county line, with about 40,800 residents at the 2020 census. It is centered on U.S. 98 and State Road 87, and from our office it is 9.5 road miles, nearly all of it on U.S. 98.
Navarre is the newest housing stock we serve. The Census Bureau's 2020-2024 estimates count 15,201 homes, 86 percent of them built in 1990 or later and 58 percent in 2000 or later, and 81 percent are detached houses. Many of those doors are old enough to matter: at Clopay's average of 1,500 cycles a year, a torsion spring rated for 10,000 to 20,000 cycles is used up in roughly seven to thirteen years, which is before a 2010 door turns 20. The permit rules come from Santa Rosa County, not Okaloosa: in a July 2026 notice about Florida's new HB 803 exemption, the county says window and exterior door replacements still need permits, and that many common projects, including exterior doors, need them regardless of cost.
